The Lovely Blog Award and paying it forward to 15 others..
I was delighted to find that I had received The Lovely Blog Award from one of my top favorite travel blogs Canada’s Adventure Couple. I only recently joined the travel blog community who are so helpful and supportive. I am enjoying travel blogging greatly. To have received this award is a very encouraging push to try to learn more on how to contribute more interesting topics for other travel bloggers to read.
Over the past Month and so I myself have enjoyed reading and learning from many amazing travel blogs some of my favorites I have already posted on my side bar and in my favorite links to name a few who already have a great acknowledgment for their great presence in the travel blog community like Nomadic Matt, Wild Junket, Everything Everywhere and Otts World. There are so many more blogs that I am discovering every day and learning from too.
The rules of accepting this delightful award and how to pay it forward if you have received one:
1) Accept the award, post it on your blog, together with the name of the person who has granted the award and link back.
2) Then pass the award to 15 other blogs that you enjoy.
3) Remember to contact the blogger to let them know about the award.

Fountain (Şadirvan) for ritual ablutions
Quote from wikipedia:
"Sultan Mahmud I ordered the restoration of the building in 1739 and added a
medrese (a Koranic school, now the library of the museum), a soup kitchen (for
distribution to the poor) and a library, and in 1740 a fountain for ritual
ablutions (Şadirvan), thus transforming it into a külliye, i.e. a social
complex. At the same time a new sultan's gallery and a new mihrab were built
inside."
Travel Photo: Stone remains of the basilica "The Lamb of God"
Continuing with my Aya sofia photo series.
Quote from Wikipedia:
"Several marble blocks from this second church have survived to the present day,
and they are displayed in the garden of the current (third) church. The blocks
were originally part of a monumental front entrance; they were excavated in the
western courtyard by A.M. Schneider in 1935. The relief depicting 12 lambs — 12
apostles as well as other remains of this church were discovered during
excavation works in 1935. In order not to harm the present Hagia Sophia
building, further excavation works were not carried out."
Turkish Phrase of The day:
Burasi cok guzel bir sehir / boorase choke goozel beer sheheer =This is a great city.
Second day in the trip.. broke my foot..
Talk about bad luck! I tripped on a rug in the hotel while carrying my bag and I fell broke my foot. But I have to say this Thank God for World Nomads insurance coverage that I taken as travel insurance. I was taken to the best hospital in Istanbul and all I had to do was make one phone call to the emergency number that was provided for me in my policy and right away they were making phone calls and sending faxes to send my guarantee of payment to the hospital I was at and calling me to make sure to tell me that they contacted the company here in Istanbul. After that I was seen by 2 doctors the emergency doctor and the orthopedics, x-rayed, bandaged and on my way. All I had to do was sign and give them a copy of my policy and I was done. I am glad I choose World Nomads and they choose a good company to cover me "Bupa" in Netherlands the whole process went very smoothly except for my pain of my broken foot. But I felt safe with the care I got from them. I am never going to choose any other company from now on.
I am on the road.. first stop.. ISTANBUL!
I started my 3 week trip and I am here in Istanbul. I will be mostly posting some of my photos through my Twitpic account of the ones I will be taking through out the day on my trip with microblogging posts on my Twitter account. I am also uploading my photos at the end of the day when I can and when the hotel offers free Internet on my flickr account. Its going to be quite busy till I can finally settle down and be able to write a more detailed post regarding my trip on my self hosted site (which I will announce here). So twits and twitpic for now.
